Water Purification

The objective of this study is to develop a nanomembrane from polymers that will remove chemical and microbial contaminants and play a major role in improving public health through sustainable access to safe drinking water as well as fulfil a greater part of Millennium development goal (MDG) 7.

Only 1% of the Earth's freshwater is available for withdrawal and human use!

Less than a seventh of the planet’s population have access to safe, clean drinking water.

Microorganisms are the source of infectious diseases [Tischer et al, 2012]. There are several ways of preventing pathogens in water to eliminate or reduce the harm they cause to humans. Water purification through the use of filtration is the most efficient water treatment.
