NB as a Digital Scholar

Day 1: Concept of Digital Scholarship
Its fascinating to find out that everything that was once placed in the net either by self or otherwise is always recorded by Google!

Day 2: Creating a soundtrack
Appreciating the ADDIE design thinking process, the voice turned out to be a powerful tool to communicate research to not only the peers, but the general public. Discovered an exciting tool to upload message from the smart phone to the web to disseminate information.

Resource creation design process
Name of resource (it must be catchy!): Eradication of Malaria
Type of resource:
Rationale for resource: reach a greater population
Team members:

Analyse:
What problem/ need/ opportunity to we want to address? | Who, is our audience? | What are our outcomes? | What is our itch?
  • Prevention and treatment of malaria
  • Mothers and general public
  • Awareness of prevention of malaria
  • Significantly reduce and hopefully eradicate malaria
Design:
What is our dream (goal) with this resource (the Blueprint) | What is the feeling this resource should evoke? | What will we make? | Storyboard, Script, Shot list | Importance of narrative (Beginning, middle, end (or “the twist
  • A platform that generates relevant information to educate the public
  • understanding and conceptualizing the know-how
  • Story / document statistics
  • Storyboard
  • Demonstrate preventive measure and how prevention is feasible
Develop:
How will we make it? | What tools will we use? | Who will do what? | What skills do we still need? | How much will it cost? | How will we make sure we are following universal design principles?
  • Gather community
  • facebook, google classroom, youtube, blog
  • linguistic / translators
  • Precious time
  • simple language, incorporate sign language
Implement:
Where will it live? | Who will put it there? | Deadline: How long will it take to create?
  • Online and regular
  • Self

Evaluate:
Make it, break it, shake it | How will we know if it is good? | Who will tell us? |  Plans for iterative formative feedback | Plans for summative feedback

  • Provoke audience / community
  • Ensure feedback is incorporated and consistently updated to few needs
  • Allow comment tool, like, share tool, viewer counter and link to other similar pages

Day 3: Creating a Video
Recording can be done with various devises. Below are two examples using difference gadgets.

 1. Professional camera

2. Smart phone (Samsung)

Surprising our smart phones were more user friendly producing a better clip with excellent control of sound. It portrayed to be a portable tool that smoothly covered a larger audience, as well as allowed creativity cost effectively.

Day 4 - The Integrator
Indeed, the world is a global village! The dynamic technology has given birth to various tools that intertwine majestically in social media to aid in disseminating knowledge without barriers. The blog has proved to be a powerful platform that incorporates various visual and text to reach a diverse population.
